Welcome to the 2008 AWP conference website! We are so excited to be bringing AWP to San Diego!
This year’s conference theme, “Expanding the Boundaries of Feminist Psychology: Social Justice, Activism, Resistance” reflects the desire to expand the ways in which feminist psychology facilitates social justice and the empowerment of women all over the world. We envision a space in which we will be inspired by the insights of various disciplines to examine issues such as Women and War, Immigration, Poverty, Reproductive Justice, Power, Privilege, Discrimination, and Difference and to empower ourselves and all feminists to act productively in response to the crises of our time.
We hope to create a space for collaborative conversations among women and men from various disciplines to promote skill building for activism and resistance.
The conference program is an exciting mix of invited and submitted presentations, special events, and entertainment. Be sure to sign up for the pre-conference half day or full day workshops on Thursday March 13th (register to receive CEs for these) and don't miss the Opening Reception that evening at 5:30 p.m. We are also planning a Friday night buffet dinner with entertainment and you won't want to miss the Feminist Shabbat Celebration, Coming Out Ceremony, Croning, or Annual Saturday Night AWP Dance! (see schedule for more details and conference highlights).
We look forward to seeing you in Sunny San Diego! Download our Conference Flyer.
